The Home Stretch

So as I sit here, there are just 20 days if you include today, until we get married, and today is half over, so it's really only 19 days. I honestly can't believe that it has gone by so fast. We started this blog the day after we got engaged. At that point it was 203 days til we got married. It sounded like it was going to be forever. Before you knew it, Christmas came and went, and we had already lost two months. Then we really started to get things going for the wedding, and it has all just gone by like the blink of an eye.

As I thought about it today, there have been stressful moments, but then there have been some very fun times in all of this too. Getting our pictures taken was a lot of fun. Ashley's Dad took our pictures for us, and we ended up going to take pictures a couple of times. We went up the canyon last fall to get some pictures in the mountain and that same day we also took pictures at Thanksgiving Point as we looked at having our reception there. Around the first part of the year, we headed up to Midway and took pictures at the Zermatt resort. There is snow in the background and our cheeks are bright red in almost every picture. Then a couple of months ago, Ashley and I went to visit her brother and sister in Arizona, and got to take pictures in the sunny Arizona weather. The majority of the pictures that we took didn't end up being chosen, but it was just fun to and take pictures and not worry about having to pay a professional photographer for all of the time we took.

The next thing that I didn't think would be a lot of fun, was going through and filling out our wedding registry. It was cool to go through and pick out the different things that we would have in our future home. I was almost dreading going and doing this for an entire evening, but it really turned out to be a lot of fun. I don't have a lot of opinions when it comes to thing around the house, but I do about bath towels. One of my biggest pet peeves is when you go to wrap the towel around you, and it's too small. I am 6'3" and not a twig, so it takes a sizeable towel to fit around me comfortably. Well, Ashley was trying to tell me that they had oversized normal towels that weren't nearly as expensive as the bath sheet, that would work. I didn't believe her, so she had me wrap a towel around my waist right there in the middle of the store. I then started to walk around in that area with the towel to see if it would stay. Well, it did, and it just so happened that the new store employees were taking a tour of the sales floor, and they came around the corner right as I was strutting around with a towel. Needless to say, I was a little embarrassed.

The last thing that was fun (there are so many that I could mention) was purchasing a town home. Ashley and I will be moving into our newly constructed town home towards the end of the summer and I am really excited. They started to pour the foundation for it just recently, and it's been fun to pick out all of the options for it. We have gone up to Farmington where they are buiding the same model of homes, and we walked through a framed version of our floorplan. It was really exciting to walk through it and imagine what it will be like when it is ours!

All in all, I would say that the engagment has been fun, that it has gone by really quickly, and that I am extremely excited to start the rest of my life with Ashley. What they say is true, when you meet the right person, you just know it.
